Mediaguide sponsors Amy's Ride for Cystic Fibrosis
“Adding tomorrows to every day” is the motto of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and recently Mediaguide, Inc. generously aided their mission by supporting an event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research. Mediaguide was one of several companies who sponsored the first annual Amy’s Ride for Cystic Fibrosis Event.
On Saturday July 16th, approximately 250 motorcyclists from around central Pennsylvania came together to participate in Amy’s Ride, a motorcycle trip to Harrisburg followed by pig roast party. The proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, who allots approximately 95% of its funding towards research for a cure.
In the Unites States, approximately 30,000 children and young adults suffer from this incurable illness. During Amy’s Ride, CFF raised more than $23,000 through corporate sponsors like Mediaguide, through participant registration and individual donations. In turn, all of the corporate sponsors had their name and logo printed on the event T-shirts, programs, banners and earned a plaque of appreciation from the Amy’s Ride Committee.
“The individual generosity of the Mediaguide employees and the entire organizations speaks highly about our values,” says Margaret Stewart, a member of the Mediaguide Content Department and Amy’s cousin. “I feel good to know that Mediaguide cares about people and their families and that the company was willing to show their support for such a great cause.”
When Amy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in May 2004, her family knew that they had to do something. “My husband and I knew that we couldn’t sit back and hope for a cure to come into existence. We knew about the work of the CFF and their amazing strides in research so we wanted to help. We contacted CFF and that was how the idea for the Amy’s Ride event began,” says Peggy Miller, Amy’s mother and a lead member of the Amy’s Ride committee. Miller speaks highly of the corporate sponsors in saying, “They were gracious and generous in helping and us out and making the event a success. We could not have done this without their support.”
Participants, volunteers and sponsors are eagerly looking forward to next years Amy’s Ride Event, which is already scheduled to be held on July 15, 2006. To learn more about the event or to learn how to become a sponsor, please visit www.amysrideforcf.org.

Radio 2.0
The New York Times likes Chris Lydon and Mary McGrath's Open Source program. The piece begins,
With its long reliance on talk formats and call-in programs, radio was arguably the first open-source media form. Now a new Public Radio International program, "Open Source from P.R.I.," will test whether the collective intelligence permeating the Web can make not just loud radio, but smart radio. Not only does the program pull from unfiltered voices and opinions found on blogs, Open Source uses its own blog (www.radioopensource.org) to cull ideas and sources from its listeners.
The penultimate paragraph:
There are always people in the radio audience who know more on the topics being discussed on the air. Open Source's blog taps into that, and tries to get the experts on the air. But at the end of the day, what the audience of nonexperts hears will define Open Source, according to Ms. McGrath.

Tour De Lance
…from Paul E. Wright, Vice President, Music Business Development, Mediaguide
Amidst the local turmoil in San Diego, the payola investigation from New York and the tragic events of London over the past few weeks, there was a symbol of strength and courage that rolled into Paris this week. Beginning seven years ago after a well-publicized cancer battle, Lance Armstrong has shown that victory can come…and keep coming…even from the most difficult situations and troubling times.
Mediaguide would like to add its voice to the multitudes around the country and the world that congratulate Lance Armstrong on his seventh Tour De France victory. At just 34 years of age, Mr. Armstrong has achieved sports immortality, winning arguably the most physically challenging race more times than any person in history.
With such a feat looming during the month of July it should not surprise anyone that some of the US college & non-commercial radio stations joined in the celebration and in the support of Mr. Armstrong and his Discovery Channel team. In 2003, the German electronic innovators Kraftwerk released their song Tour De France which, like the race itself, has several stages. It appeared again on their 2005 album Minimum-Maximum, which jumped in airplay over the past 4 weeks in time to chase the race.
The number of stations playing the song doubled from 12 to 24 and the number of plays jumped 79% from 48 to 86. Below we list the top 5 stations that bumped up Tour airplay to send Mr. Armstrong a voice of support from across the Atlantic.
